The founder of Block One, Dan Larimer, was behind Steemit but got disillusioned with the direction it was going so he has a lot of experience.
One of the reasons I personally feel that many of the crypto social networks have failed to get any traction is because they rely on word of mouth. The harsh reality is that to reach mass adoption you need a huge marketing budget. Block One has this.
The other main reason is ease of use: it should be as easy as Facebook.
Voice is based on the EOSIO blockchain which has been criticised for not being as decentralised as say Bitcoin but the average user won't give hoot about that.
