Making a Flash Git
In an Ork army, some Nobz are drawn to carrying the biggest, loudest guns possible into battle. These Orks are called Flash Gitz. Their ostentatious weapons are known as Snazzguns, and they invariably have optical implants or other targeting devices known as Gitfindas built by a Mekboy and installed by a Painboy.
Taking advantage of the extra Nobz in the box I mentioned in Part 1, and drawing on my experience and bitz box findings from part 2, I decided to start building one such model. Unfortunately, I got too distracted in building to take lots of pictures until now, but the changes are far more minor.
I cut off the axe that had been in the upraised arm, and carved it into more of a closed fist shape. This will require more refinement later on, but it's already not too bad. I admit this idea came when I was googling for some inspiration to see what other Ork players had done. A victory fist-pump looks properly over-the-top, after all.
I also drilled into the head so I could glue in some pieces of tubing to represent the Gitfinda. I still need to find an appropriate lens piece though.
The Snazzgun was made by trimming the muzzle from the slugga, drilling a socket, and adding a styrene tube. Then I used a piece from a damaged Autocannon, carved a groove to fit the other barrel, added a matching muzzle tube insert, and carved a magazine well. After that, I started building up a plasticard receiver and added a claw to the barrel.
More trimming, filing, and minor detail additions remain but this is meeting my expectations so far!
If there are any other Ork players reading this, what suggestions do you have for customizing the remaining three models? The upcoming 8th Edition rule changes mean everything is up in the air as far as the old metagaming is concerned, so I plan to just build for fun here.
