The Throne of Fátima was opened to the public on October 12, 1947 and the statue was built in an Italian city called Pietrasanta by the sculptor Enrico Arrighini. To raise funds to build this monument was a great word done by Friar José Pedreira de Castro, who asked people to voluntarily donate funds for the church and also to build the monument. The architectonical project was designed by the same architect that projected Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Heitor da Silva Costa.
From the top of the hill, where the throne is located, you can see part of the valley where Petrópolis is situated and all the forest and nature surrounding it. If you come to Petrópolis for a visit, this is a place you can't miss seeing.
The first picture I took when I took @willpekus there to see it and he loved it so much. The second one is an image of Our Lady of Fátima made in copper that I bought this last Sunday when I was there to pray for the Mother's Day.
