It is late autumn in South Africa and as it is Sunday I took advantage of bright mid-morning sunshine in our rather chaotic back garden. I am a little obsessed with the sun, which is not surprising as I am a Leo! What is surprising is that I don't enjoy very hot weather, despite my love for the sun. Cold and sunny is what I like! I adore dramatic thunderstorms, and loathe overcast drizzles.
Manicured tidiness is not for me, though we could probably use a bit more of a clean-up. Mmmm, with what time??? Note the long savanna grass. Very soon it will become a vista of black. Every winter veld fires roar past, annihilating everything in their fiery crackling path. When spring arrives, the hills are again transformed to fresh green and filled with wildflowers. Our lemon tree is half dead, sadly a victim of the crippling drought we have just come out off. This chaotic shed is fortunately not in direct view of the house or yard. It is reached by climbing all those concrete stairs! I have no good idea of what is in it, except odd leftovers from the auctions we attend and...snakes! One of the staff members caught a puff adder there and although I'm not terrified of snakes, I would prefer not to confront one face to face!
