Fried Catfish and Grits go great together! It's like shrimp and grits but with catfish, lol! This recipe is simply easy to make yet so delicious!
For this recipe you need the following:
Fresh Catfish filets
Rinse them off and pat dry. Use a egg scrambled and dip the fish pieces in the mixture for frying. Heat about 1 cup of oil on the stove while you are doing this so it will be very hot and ready to go. Coat the fish in the egg and then the cornmeal- then fry it for about 3 minutes and turn it over and cook for another 3 minutes or until golden brown. Place on a paper towel to drain oil and serve with grits! I use milk in my grits to make them and real butter as it will taste amazing!
Fresh catfish Filets are great! It contains Omega- 3 Fatty Acids which are essential to your Health!
This fish fry is gluten free which we needed, and it tastes great!!
Cut your pieces up a little small so you can add to your grits and enjoy them easily.
Coat the fish well on both sides. Make sure the oil is hot before frying it next!
be careful as the oil is very hot! You need it hot to seal the coating when it first hits the oil.
After 3 minutes or so, flip it over to cook the other side.
When they are golden brown, they are done and ready to be taken out. Cool down and drain on a paper towel to get off extra oil. Place fish filets on top of creamy grits with sides of macaroni & cheese and mixed fresh, local vegetables! all Gluten Free too! You can have a healthy, Flour less, Gluten Free Southern , Soul Food in which I love and it's not as bad for you.... It tastes wonderful and remind me of being at home in the Southern atmosphere...
To make the grits simply boil milk or heavy whipping cream- one cup of milk or heavy whipping cream to 1/4 cup of grits....simmer on low- medium stirring frequently ...add a little pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons real butter.
Pouring the grits in the boiling milk, turn the temperature down and keep stirring...after a few minutes simmer and cover. Returning often to stir and check to see if you need to add water.
Stirring all the time here, as you do not want them to stick and burn, make sure enough water and then cover. After about 15 minutes or 17 minutes it will be done.....add fried catfish and enjoy!
!
Enjoy your meal! I know I did, lol!
Go Golos!
