BlockStamp (BST) is a new digital currency intended to store user's data in the blockchain. It is based on Bitcoin peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority and is a hardfork from the bitcoin blockchain. The goal was to create a new fast and effective blockchain that could be used for trusted timestamping of documents. Currently, BlockStamp blockchain is used as the core of an online gambling platform. Future uses will cover dedicated timestamping and domain naming.
Introduction
At the beginning of January, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Bitcoin’s creation. The last decade has been one to remember. In more ways than one!
On the one hand, we have seen rapid technological advances around — and growing public awareness of — blockchains.
On the other, we have observed a huge amount of ICOs that either did not deliver on what they promised or never delivered anything at all.
That reminds us that BUIDL is just as important as HODL!

A basic BlockStamp application is based on the possibility of transparently sealing up to 1 MB of data into a block on the blockchain. That’s enough room to accommodate both small hash values to serve as timestamps as well as larger files themselves.
Any attempts to manipulate data that has been timestamped or stored this way will be obvious in the future. The BlockStamp blockchain therefore acts as a digital bookkeeper or notary who can prove that certain data existed at a specific time.
