Hello people! Let's take a look at the great example of innovation in the field of textiles is the project - Loomia.
https://loomia.com
Loomia has been built to bring value and innovation to soft goods and apparel through uniting electronics and textiles.
Creating new materials can give a huge economic boost to soft goods industriesby allowing companies to capture value for not just form, but also function.
LOOMIA suggests a protocol for multi-factor identity verification that bridges the physical world and the digital world to prove that the physical you is the digital you. We do this by using personal data collected from your garments, synced to an online profile and verified with a fingerprint. In short, we ensure that you are you by collecting personal data from what you wear.
The LOOMIA protocol ensures that your personal data continues to belong to you. Instead of companies profiting off of your identity, you can own and sell your data to brands, researchers, and other organizations who are interested in learning more about how you use their products and systems, thus creating a closed feedback loop with no middleman and allowing you to profit from being you.
It works in conjunction with the LOOMIA Electronic Layer (LEL), a soft flexible circuit embedded into textiles with the ability to sense changes in its environment, such as heat and touch.
What Is Loomia and How It Is Established
Loomia braids the circuits into the fabrics in order to make them light up, heat up and change colors. The reason for such a futuristic invention is the consideration of the need for the adaptability to the constantly changing environmental requirements. In order to proceed with the idea, Loomia gathers the information on the habits of the consumers, including the activity level, the temperature, the wear frequency, etc. Relying on the collected information, Loomia creates the Electronic Layer sheet, a flexible and a soft circuit, highly responsive to the touch, as well as the temperature changes, in order to satisfy the original thought.
The Loomia Electronic Layer is factory-made and Rotts-certified. Aside from the fact that it is supportive of sense, heat and light applications, it can also handle up to 50 washes and dries. The Loomia invention covers several areas, such as different components, connectors, conductive inks applicable to textile, the e-patterned materials and the custom battery form factors.
Users can transfer their data to a desktop application that allows them to manage and sell their data to market researchers.
The app is completely serverless and leverages the blockchain for security and data integrity.
LOOMIA provides the following functions:
- Heating
Flexible, sufficiently soft heating, which can be directly integrated into shoes, clothes, seats and much more. Heating is possible up to 200 degrees depending on the strength. Can be washed, sewn and ultra-thin. - Sensor
Sensory fabric that can be used as an interface, sensors and other applications. Convenient for cars, garment industry. You can wash, sew, ultra-thin. Sensitivity can work with low power. - Lighting devices
Flexible, soft lighting that can be used for applications with high security visibility, as well as for more commercial use. Lighting can work at low power.
In addition, the LOOMIA TILE’s unique ability to associate an individual’s physical identity to their digital identity presents an interesting starting point for a wide range of third party integrations.
It makes it possible to build applications using LOOMIA technology to verify identity and facilitate secure payments passively and seamlessly, with no manual interaction or interface.
The LOOMIA TILE mates to a LOOMIA Dock in order to recharge its battery, recharge its associated LEL’s batteries, and connect to a computer with the Tile Platform app. When the LOOMIA TILE recognizes the user’s fingerprint inside of the LOOMIA Dock, they will be signed into the Tile Platform app, where they can choose whether to transfer data between
their TILE and their account, sell data, or simply charge their batteries without any other action.
All data is visualized in the Tile Platform’s interface, where the user can view it before deciding which data to decrypt and sell. Data will only become available to interested parties once the user decides to sell it; the user will always
retain the right to choose what data they will sell, as well as when they will sell it, and to whom. For example, a user might choose to sell their biometric data for health and fitness rewards while keeping their location data confi-
dential. Buyers can incentivize users to sell the kind of data they find most useful by providing different kinds of rewards, and users can incentivize brands to align with their lifestyle by selling their data for the rewards they value most.
The Tile Platform’s stack is made up of three distributed applications working together, as shown in figure 4:
The decentralized app for user interactions and data collection
The decentralized data storage for longterm housing and and retrieval of data
The blockchain for distributed, verifiable, universal record keeping
Ultimately, the Tile Platform is designed to be storage agnostic. We will be implementing Storj integration with Blockstack, as Storj is currently the most robust and developed distributed storage platform. Storj creates encrypted portions of a file called shards which are stored redundantly throughout the network.
The blockchain ensures that zone files are correct by matching the hash for the file stored on the blockchain with the hash retrieved from distributed storage. This allows users to connect and get correct routing information for communicating with the rest of the network.
All LOOMIA products will be registered on the blockchain. In the post-manufacturing phase a public/private key pair is generated for the product and the public address is written to the blockchain with that item’s ID. This address represents the owner of the product.
Purchasers receive the private key of the item’s blockchain address when they purchasethe product. The purchaser can then choose to update the owner address to one of their choosing, or to keep the address generated for them (which is less secure, but more convenient). The update method can naturally only be invokable by the owner.
Before a user chooses whether or not to sell their data, the LOOMIA app sorts it into many different categories, which allows both users and buyers to be selective about what kind of data they want to sell and acquire. Some categories will be defined according to the World Economics Forum’s conventions for classifying personal data.
THE TILE TOKEN
The TILE token is the currency unit which provides access to the Tile Platform. For example, if a brand wanted to determine how many users wear their jacket, it would spend tokens to query the Tile Platform to get usage data. Or say, if a smart contract wants to reward users who’s identity score is above some threshold, it could lookup a user’s identity rating on the registry contract that lists the score alongside the user’s address.
TILE starts as an Ethereum ERC20 token and Ethereal marker, which is freely transmitted between users directly to the block chains, without any dependence on LOOMIA applications. The TILE token can also be used by third-party applications connected to the Tile platform.
