Эпоха танцев | Era Of Dance: The Invasion Of Western Electronic Dance Music In Soviet Union

A Russian-Latvian team of filmmakers is working on a documentary for the last two years, tracking the history and the rise of dance music culture that emerged in Riga, Latvia around 1986 and spread to the entire USSR after the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is the story how The West and The East became connected by the musical revolution. We follow​ German DJ and musician Westbam visiting Soviet Latvia as he remembers it back in the day.

According to the film makers, “the film could become the first documentary in the world on the history of the Soviet techno-revolution”. Partly​ crowdfunded after a successful​ campaign​, the film is expected to hit the Russian cinemas in March.
