SoundCloud has a long history of bad management. Right from day one they had issues with DJs uploading their mixtapes, making it an issue with licensing the tracks. In future events they "upgraded" the front-end, but not completely, making a semi-update, and left it as it is. Without any notice, they also removed all the groups on their platform overnight, making many people pissed off, including me. I had a 700-people page running, sharing new music among the users. Currently, they are running out of money and search for new ways to recruit users and investors to the platform.
SoundCould is trying to revive its platform by giving a chance to musicians and DJs to monetize plays. It sounds like a good idea. Considering that Spotify, iTunes and Google Music are eating the rewards pool.

I'm not very optimistic that precisely SoundCould are "pioneering" the idea that content creators deserve their fair share. I bet my memes on Steemit will make more money.
